Our Story
Our History
1st Wootton Scout Group has been active on the Isle of Wight for many decades, rooted in the village of Wootton and the surrounding community. From our earliest days, we've been guided by the founding principles of Scouting: learning by doing, serving others, and exploring the natural world.
Over the years we've sent young people on expeditions across the island and beyond, earned countless badges, and built friendships that have lasted a lifetime. We're proud of our heritage and excited about the adventures still to come.

Age Groups
Our Sections
Beavers
Ages 6–8The youngest members of our group. Beavers explore the world through play, crafts, and simple outdoor activities. It's all about curiosity, kindness, and fun.
Cubs
Ages 8–10½Cubs take on bigger challenges — earning badges, going on camps, and developing teamwork and independence in a supportive group.
Scouts
Ages 10½–14Scouts tackle expeditions, community projects, and leadership challenges. This is where young people really grow in confidence and capability.
Explorers
Ages 14–18Explorers take charge of their own programme — planning expeditions, running events, and taking on real responsibility in the community.

Our Leadership Team
Our leaders are all volunteers who give their time because they believe in what Scouting can do for young people. They're trained, DBS-checked, and passionate about making every meeting count.
